Constant drivers and challenges are redefining the requirements for higher education curricula and pedagogies.<\/strong><\/p>

In April 2025<\/strong>, Dr. Haraldur Audunsson<\/strong> (Reykjavik University) and Dr. Siegfried Rouvrais<\/strong> (IMT Atlantique) presented key insights from the DECART project at the IEEE EDUCON 2025 Conference<\/strong>, hosted at Queen Mary University of London<\/strong>. The presentation addressed the critical need for curriculum transformation in volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environments.<\/p>

The IEEE Global Engineering Education Conference (EDUCON)<\/strong> is the flagship event of the IEEE Education Society in Region 8 (Europe, Middle East, and Africa). The 2025 edition, themed \u201cSustaining Educational Excellence in Engineering\u201d<\/em>, welcomed over 400 participants<\/strong> from around the world, highlighting the growing urgency to adapt higher education to emerging global demands.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

This segment of the DECART project<\/strong> explored how academic leaders and curriculum designers can drive meaningful transformation in engineering education, especially in light of Industry 5.0<\/strong> requirements. Using a qualitative research approach<\/strong>, the presentation offered guidance for universities aiming to align their programs with the needs of future engineers and rapidly evolving professional landscapes.<\/p>
