Best Practices in Curriculum Design? DECART at SEFI 2024 international conference
At the SEFI 2024 conference at EPFL, DECART also presented a full paper, thanks to Asrun Matthiasdottir from Reykjavik University. The theme this year, “Educating Responsible Engineers”. The DECART paper presented, now in the conference proceedings, was on “EXAMINING BEST PRACTICES IN CURRICULUM DESIGN”, training future responsible engineers needs methods.
It is important for higher education leaders to be aware of the need for regularly reviewing curriculum and take part in development to ensure quality improvement.
Paper is co-authored by DECART members from Reykjavik University, Vilnius University, IMT Atlantique, IT Del and UKZN.
Questions from the international audience now permits to go further in the curriculum canvas usability, they highlight best practices needs in curriculum design for engineering education. These are multifaceted, encompassing industry relevance, active learning, interdisciplinary approaches, and a focus on soft skills development. The DECART canvas has been recognized as valuable insights for engineering educators, particularly when program designer managers grapple with swiftly responding to the challenges posed by VUCA conditions in Higher Education.
