DECART: Designing higher Education Curricula for Agility, Resilience & Transformations

Australia-Asia Nomadic Curriculum Design Workshop at CDIO Conference 2025

Melbourne, Australia – June 2-5, 2025 – The DECART project, an international initiative focused on designing agile, resilient, and transformative higher education curricula, proudly announces the successful conclusion of the Australia-Asia Nomadic Curriculum Design workshop. Held at Monash University as part of the annual CDIO Conference, this event served as a crucial step in fostering global collaboration in curriculum development.

The workshop’s primary objective was to initiate dialogue and collaborative efforts towards the design and implementation of a joint Australia-Asia Bachelor’s level curriculum. Bringing together members of the CDIO network from diverse countries, the event emphasized the importance of cross-cultural engagement in addressing contemporary educational challenges.

Two representatives from the DECART project, Arlinta and Eka from Institut Teknologi Del, facilitated an engaging 90-minute workshop. Participants were divided into groups and tasked with utilizing the Curriculum Design Canvas, incorporating “Red VUCA cards” as a tool to stimulate discussions on enhancing collaboration with external university stakeholders, including other academic institutions and industry partners. Interactive discussions were encouraged, prompting participants to identify key elements for strengthening collaborative initiatives across all components of the Curriculum Canvas.

Through this impactful workshop, the DECART project aimed to gather valuable insights directly from participants. These insights will be instrumental in refining existing project materials and enhancing overall outcomes, particularly in navigating the complexities of a Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous (VUCA) world, ultimately leading to improved curriculum design and implementation.
