DECART: Designing higher Education Curricula for Agility, Resilience & Transformations

Curriculum Transformation Workshop in Lithuania

In June 2025, Angela James (WP3, UKZN) facilitated a dynamic workshop at the 6th International Baltic Symposium on Science and Technology Education (BalticSTE 2025) in Šiauliai, Lithuania. The session focused on the vital role of facilitating stakeholder engagement in curriculum transformation, bringing together a diverse group of participants from countries including Lithuania, Slovenia, Latvia, The Czech Republic, and Greece to explore complex educational ecosystems.

The workshop utilized interactive methodologies to deepen understanding, starting with a “rich picture” exercise where participants visually mapped out stakeholder interests and concerns. This creative visualization was followed by a strategic analysis using the Influence and Interest Matrix. These tools allowed the group to structure their reflections on power dynamics and communication needs, transforming abstract concepts into actionable strategies for the curriculum change process.

Feedback from the session was highly positive, with participants praising the workshop as interactive and thought-provoking. Attendees noted that the combination of creative visualization and structured analysis encouraged collaboration and critical thinking. The workshop ultimately provided a robust framework for navigating the complexities of influence and power in educational reform.
